Last updated: 30 September 2026 · Applies to version 1.0.6Tab Limit limits newly opened tabs in regular Chrome windows. It operates locally on your device.
The extension saves your selected tab limit, window mode, enabled setting, and pinned-tab preference using Chrome’s local extension storage. It temporarily stores its active or paused state, regular window identifiers, and resume-prompt state using Chrome’s session storage.
To apply your limit, it processes tab and window identifiers, tab counts, and whether tabs are pinned. It does not read page contents, collect browsing history, or record website URLs or page titles.
The extension does not transmit information to the developer or third parties. It has no analytics, advertising, accounts, remote server, or tracking code. It does not sell data or use Chrome’s sync storage.
The storage permission is used to remember your preferences and temporary session state. The extension uses Chrome’s tab and window APIs to count tabs, close newly opened excess tabs, and show the resume prompt. It does not request access to website contents or browsing history.
Saved preferences remain in local extension storage until you change them or uninstall the extension. Temporary session storage is cleared when Chrome restarts or the extension is disabled, reloaded, or updated. You can switch limiting off from the extension, or remove the extension through Chrome’s extension settings.
This policy describes the extension itself. The Chrome Web Store and any service hosting this policy operate under their own privacy policies. If the extension’s data practices change, this policy will be updated to reflect them.
